DVD95Copy Xpress is a lightweight software tool that combines DVD ripping and burning capabilities. It provides you with all you need to copy the contents of a DVD to your hard disk or onto a blank recordable DVD (single- or double-layered), and to perform more complex operations, like extracting only the main movie of a DVD and creating a new video disc with it.

The program comes with a modern user interface. Here you can select your source DVD drive, your DVD burner (destination drive), the burning speed, a temporary folder to store the DVD files in, the disc type (single-layer or dual-layer) and the target compression method. The DVD burner drop-down allows you to select a hard disk folder or an ISO/UDF image file, in case you want to keep the contents of the DVD on your hard disk. Once you have set those basic parameters, you can start the ripping process.

When you run the program for the first time, it automatically opens the "Options" window, which allows you to choose a more appropriate initial configuration to be applied to your subsequent jobs. There you can (among other options) select your preferred languages - for the audio and the subtitle tracks - in case you do not want to keep them all, select whether the burning process should start automatically or not, or the Copy Type. As for the Copy Type, the program basically allows you to work in two modes: “Full disc” and “Movie only”. The first mode is intended to be used for 1:1 copies, cloning the contents of an entire DVD, while the second mode instructs the program to extract the main video stream only, which will save you a lot of space and which is ideal for back-up purposes.

The trial version presents certain important limitations: it will only rip or copy about the first 25 minutes of an original movie, and will work for only 90 days. Besides, I have to mention a strange issue about the program's version: when you download and install it, it immediately tells you that a new version is available. However, if you try to download it, you are asked to type the "e-mail address from which you ordered it". I believe buying a license is a requirement for having access to the latest version of the program.
